You can also follow us at the following: Knife Defense Appreciation Workshop To celebrate our Krav Maga school's two year anniversary, we are having a free Knife Defense Appreciation Workshop for our members. When: Friday, March 2, 2012 Time: 7:00 - 10:00 pm Cost: FREE!!! Who: All active and former students of our Krav Maga school only. This workshop will teach four principles: 1. Defending the Attack 2. Counterattack 3. Controlling the Knife 4. Disarm In addition, students will learn to defend the knife at three distances: 1. Long-range 2. Mid-range 3. Close-range Get the advantage in a fight! Attend the... Self Defense Keychain Class This class will teach you how to protect yourself with a Self-Defense Keychain. The topics you will learn: Self-Defense Keychain "soft-techniques" against a person who is just harassing or bothering you. How to increase the damage (2-3x more) you cause to the attacker with your normal hand strikes/punches (by using the Self-Defense Keychain) if you are assaulted. You will learn to use your keys as a "mini-knife" or edged weapon for high-risk self-defense scenarios. When: Friday, October 21, 2011 Time: 8:00 - 9:00 pm Cost: FREE! This class is designed for beginners who do not feel comfortable defending themselves off their back. The last course we taught (Defense Against Long Gun (Rifle/Shotgun) Clinic) we had people who wanted to participate but couldn't because the course was already full! All the proceeds of the class will go towards the purchase of Landing Mat for our regular/ongoing self defense classes. Pictures from the 'Winning the Battle from the Ground' class Defense Against Long Gun (Rifle/Shotgun) Clinic This clinic deals with extreme, high-risk scenarios in which an assailant, armed with a long gun (shotgun, rifle), poses an imminent threat to the life of the defender under intense conditions. These conditions include threats from all possible angles, including bayonet style attacks. Defenses Against Threats with an Edged Weapon Appreciation Seminar To celebrate our Krav Maga school's one year anniversary we are having a free Defenses Against Threats with an Edged Weapon Appreciation Seminar for our members. When: Friday, March 4, 2011 Time: 7:00 - 9:00 pm Cost: FREE!!! Who: All active and former members of our Krav Maga school. This seminar covers practical and proven techniques to effectively deal with an assailant who uses an edged weapon to pose an imminent threat to the life of the defender. The handgun is among the most commonly used deadly weapon in violent street assaults. The Krav Maga techniques taught at this seminar will allow you to respond quickly and effectively with state-of-the-art defenses against a variety of hand gun threats. Redirect the line of fire. BOB Body Opponent Bag Now even more realistic training for a variety of techniques. BOB's longer torso creates more striking surface area for body shot training as well as kicks. Pictures from the Handgun Defense seminar Stick Defense Clinic Wednesday, July 7, 2010 7:00 - 9:00 pm Cost: $20 This clinic will teach Krav Maga stick defenses against attacks with a blunt object... A "stick" is the most obvious member of a family of weapons known as blunt objects. These can include not only baseball bats, pool cues, tire irons and "Club" car security devices, but also handheld rocks, hammers, and any other striking instrument that does not possess a long, sharp edge or point. Although some of these weapons (such as a rock) do not create the distance-related dangers of a stick, the defense remains the same for all of these weapons. Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund The Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund was established in 2000 to provide financial support for the dependents of United States military personnel lost in performance of their duty. This continued an effort begun in 1982 by Zachary and Elizabeth Fisher, founders of the Intrepid Museum Foundation and the Fisher House Foundation. Following the bombing of the U.S. Marine barracks in Beirut in 1982, the Fishers sent contributions of $10,000 to every child who lost a parent in the attack. Until Zachary’s passing in 1999, the Fishers made hundreds of similar contributions following military losses. These gifts, usually of $25,000, were intended to assist military families through any financial hardships they might face following the loss of their loved ones. This tradition was carried on by Zachary’s nephews, Arnold, Richard and Tony Fisher, who quietly supported these efforts through the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum.
